Changes afoot - Please check with staff

Full access for Disabled Patients. The practice is single-handed and dispensing, covering the island of Hoy and Walls. Full primary care, including out of hours care, is provided for all residents by the Doctor and Nurses. Emergency care is also provided for visitors and temporary residents.

The Doctor provides antenatal and postnatal care, support and advice with the visiting Health Visitor/Midwife from the mainland. Community Nursing Services are provided on the island.

To register with the Doctor call in to the Health Centre during opening hours to collect a Registration Form.

Prescriptions

All drugs and appliances are dispensed on the premises and can be collected between 10.30 & 12 midday or by other arrangement. 

Please give 48 hours notice for repeat prescriptions

Please do not take up consulting time with repeat prescriptions; phone in the morning prior to your visit and your medication will be ready for collection.

Your call will be connected to the Doctor’s house. If there is no-one at home the answering machine will advise you to ring the Balfour Hospital 888000 who will be able to contact the Doctor or Nurse as appropriate.

Clinics are held on a regular basis and include

Ante-natal Asthma Child Health Chiropody Diabetes Well-Man Well-Woman

Emergencies on the island are dealt with by the Doctor and Nurses. The surgery is equipped to treat most injuries as well as other minor surgical procedures. There is a fully equipped ambulance for use by the practice team. Transfer of a patient is usually by our own ambulance on the ‘Hoy Head’ ferry.

The practice provides a full Family Planning service and is committed to an active Health Promotion programme.
