Longhope Lifeboat Museum Trust

Patron: HRH The Princess Royal

Scottish Charity number SC032029

The Trust was funded in  2000 by local people following the offer of the former Longhope Lifeboat "Thomas McCunn", the redundant 1901 Lifeboat House and Slipway at Brims.

Lifeboat Museum

At present the Museum tells the story of the 1932 Watson Lifeboat "Thomas McCunn" together with the Longhope Lifeboat Disaster March 17th 1969. Thomas McCunn is the only launchable slipway lifeboat in the UK and served Longhope 1933-62

To date the project has been funded entirely by public donations; all restoration works, collections and displays have been carried out voluntarily. In the future the Museum will also illustrate the history of the Longhope Lifeboat since it's beginning in 1874.
